Craft fairs...

Well I have two craft fairs coming up. One in November the (5th and 6th) and then another one in December.

Last year I did it with two friends. This year it will be just me. :(

I am working franticly on getting stuff done to sell since the sale is next week. Eeep!

I have been doing lots of lamp work earrings. Hopefully they sell as well as they did last year.

I'm thinking of doing 4 dollars for a pair. How does that sound?

Bracelets 7-10 dollars

Necklaces prices will be different for each based on work and other stuff done on then.

Pictures to come soon of stuff I am working on.

Traci's Class the Results!!!

To see Traci's awesome class and pictures. Here is the link:

That is Kathy's OSU Bracelet

Marvina's Braclet

Julie's Bracelet and Earrings (Steeler fan)

Carol's Bracelet (She's a red hat lady hence the Red and Purple)

Cozette's Necklace

Leslie's Bracelet which she was SURE she messed up. And then once they were cut EVERYONE loved them. She was very pleased with how they turned out. I think it had to do with Traci stepping in when she was "Mashing it together"

Geez been a while....

Sorry folks... wow middle of august was when I last updated.

Well I should have a double post today.

Now that Jenn's wedding and Gencon are over with I feel I can finally get back to beading. Traci's Polymer Clay class was a HIT! Everyone loved her!

The suggestions I got were:

o Have a handout with all the info. Cause once they started doing stuff they forgot alot of the useful stuff she shared with them.

I had fun in the class too. I went home and created candy corn shaped beads and pumpkins. It was only after I had created the candy corn that I realized that is was White Orange Yellow. Not White Yellow Orange. Oh well. I covered the earring in nail polish. I think I might try The Future Finish stuff Traci told the class about.

Mom's birthday was September 1st and this was some of the jewelry I made for her. First, was a 56 inch amber colored necklace. However laying on a sheet of paper is doesn't photograph well. So I will need to take a picture of mom wearing it. It is versatile. You can wear it normal or as a two, three or four strand necklace. The four strand is tied with ribbon.

Then I made her bird and sea themed bracelets. The bird one was blue chunky odd shaped beads with bird charms and a earring set to match. The Sea Bracelet is serpentine aka "the New Jade" and sea charms.

Last week I did two classes to teach people how to make bracelets with the beads that Traci helped them make! We had a lunch class and an evening class the following night. That weekend I made a bracelet using the learnings I got from Traci as an example for the class. The lunch class had about 12 people while the evening had 5. I was beat after both classes.

Classes, Catalog and Weekend Beading Oh My!

Well as I said last post I was working on what to say for each piece in a the Catalog that Barry made for me.

So if you look at the picture from last post and imagine this next to it on the page:

Perfect for any occasion! This is set was made for a bridal party. The bracelets
and earring for the bridesmaids and the necklace for the flower girls. All can
be tailored to fit your special occasion.
The blue goldstone gives off a
silvery shimmer.

And then for this bracelet: "Under the Sea"

Under the Sea -- the blues and greens in this bracelet are inspired by visions of moonlight deep in the depths of the ocean water. The blues and greens shimmer and seem to change color in the light. Small fish and star fish swim between the strands of these bracelets.

Also this last week I worked on getting a class together for the NAA Jewelry
club. We have about 20 people signed up so far and more and more keep
responding. It has gone from one class to two classes now. (Both on the same
day... one at lunch and one after work.) The wonderful Mythical Magpie is
going
to teach the class! :D Here is her blog to see some of her stuff: http://mythicalmagpie.blogspot.com/

She will be teaching a beginner polymer bead making class.

I'm excited. The class will be on the 27th! Woot.

I just came back from Cleveland on Friday night and I was inspired. I was able to do 2 wire necklaces - beaded crochet and one Sun Necklace.

The special thing about the Sun necklace is that is stretched my boundaries. I tend to stick with colors I am comfortable with. (Blue, Green, Black, Red) This one has a Sun focal bead that was orange, so I made a multi strand necklace with bright orange and brown and copperish colors. :) Pictures to come soon.

This seems like a super long post so time to wrap it up! :D Let me know what you think of the blurbs.

Jenn's Bridesmaids Jewelry and other items

You know it's really hard to describe the items you create, to write it in descriptive form. Who knew it could be so hard? Barry helped me take some pictures of my jewelry and as a surprise he put together a fall catalog for me!

As soon as I get the words correct I will post a few of the slides up here. :D

But the real reason I posted today is because I finally finished the bridesmaid jewelry that Jenn had ordered. It was a 4 bracelets with matching earrings and 2 children's necklaces. Here is the problem I had. How long do you make a child's necklace? I had done searches in the past and had come up with nothing. I did another search this weekend and found: http://www.jsbeads.com/Articles/Designing_Jewelry_BS_FS/Necklace_Lengths.asp

And there is was a Choker 14/16 inches, "This is a good necklace length for a child. This way the necklace has 'growth room'."

So I went back and measured what I had made. 13 inches. CRAP. So I tried it on my neck it fit just fine. So I figured unless this was some freakishly large child hopped up on steroids then it should be fine.

The bracelets and earrings are blue goldstone with small silver beads and heart clasps. I am going to add to my catalog as a bridal party set. Or something of the sort. I figure I can keep the same design and change to colors to match the bridal colors.

Any other ideas for what they can be called? Or have any ideas on descriptive words to use or how your talk up your jewelry?

Hello Folks!

Here is the Bronze Pendent I made at Ally Beads. They were having their Woodstock celebration. It was made out of Bronze Clay.

It was pretty easy to work with, but they said it dries out easily which is bad for me since I tend to leave things out. >.> <.< (Who me?)

But after it was finished they fired it for five hours in a kiln and it turned into this actual bronze thingy. :D

They have a silver class coming up I might be interested in taking. (Depending on the time.)

Barry helped me take some pictures of my jewelry today. He is going to help me put a catalog together. And eventually I will have it on a website.... (Just need to take the class myself and do it myself and not rely on anyone else to do it.)

I have cut and cropped most of the pictures. I might put some more up later or tomorrow.

We will see. :)

Let me know what you think! And/ Or Let me know if you want to take that class with me.
